Frequently asked questions

  • My approach to health consulting is based on the discipline of functional medicine, which aims to optimize the functioning of the body by bringing balance to the whole person. It uncovers the root causes of health struggles and attributes equal value to all aspects of a person’s well-being: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and environmental. Often the root cause of “un-wellness” is within the power of the client to correct via health behavior change.

Nurse coaching is a partnership between the coach and the client. The coach-client interaction is founded on skillful and intentional exploration, mindfulness, and implementing personalized action steps to move the client toward their goal of wellness. The nurse coach skillfully assists the client to discover and build on their existing strengths to enact powerful changes that result in sustainable change.

Finding the root cause and strengthening the client’s agency to correct it opens the door to wellness.

  • It is best to receive our nutrition through eating quality, nutrient-dense foods. Supplements and medications can be helpful if used appropriately for short-term relief while working on addressing the root cause. If we are correcting the problem at its source, oftentimes the need for supplements/medications can be reduced or eliminated.

  • Mindfulness means to intentionally place your attention on what you are experiencing in the moment. This creates an opportunity to notice and be aware of thoughts, emotions, and body signals that may otherwise escape your awareness. Developing the skill of mindfulness can be approached in many different ways and takes practice.

Inner wisdom is another way to say intuition. Every person has intuition, an inner sense of knowing what is best.

  • With visits of 60 minutes, I allow ample time for listening and personalizing care.

I support you in determining what success means to you. I help you break big goals into smaller, doable pieces so you can build momentum and experience consistent success.

Together, we create a plan based on the strengths you already have to cultivate “skill-power,” not will-power.

  • Yes! In functional medicine, a diagnosis is not necessary to determine the root cause of symptoms or to make a care plan to address them. A diagnosis is simply a label for one or more symptoms and usually does not answer the question of why these symptoms are present for a specific person. Whether or not you have a diagnosis, we can help uncover the “why.”

  • Yes! We have many tools to help you explore where to begin. You will receive support from start to finish with determining where to focus your efforts, how to fit changes into your life, and how to ensure your success.
